Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) Course

A 1 day course leading to a Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) qualification and includes a FREE Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.

This is a brand New Qualification introduced on the 1st October 2024 and replacing the old (Top Up) which will cease to exist after the 31st January 2025. This is the new (Refresher) qualification.

This Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) has been developed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a security officer and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements.

Mandatory Modules include:

• Principles of terror threat awareness

• Know how to conduct effective search procedures

• Understand how to keep vulnerable people safe

The course will be assessed by the learner completing multi-choice examinations and practical assessments throughout the course. There will also be a short questions and answer session with the tutor.

There will also be a small amount of distance learning to be completed prior to attending the course including a small workbook, an English assessment, both ACT - Action Counters Terrorism certificates, and a small amount of distance learning on the first aid knowledge.

All elements of this course must be achieved to then enable the learner to apply to renew their Security Officers licence with the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

The learner must achieve the first aid element before progressing onto the Security Officer element of the course.

If a learner already holds a first aid qualification, then it must have a minimum of 12 months validation remaining on it to be recognised as prior learning.
