About the Course

A Brand New Qualification introduced on the 1st October 2024 and replacing the old (Top Up). This is the new Door Supervisor (Refresher) qualification and will be run over 3 Days with First Aid included, or if a learner has a First Aid qualification which is current, and has a minimum of 12 months validation remaining, They will just attend for the last 2 days of the course.

Door Supervisors are often the first point of contact between many businesses and members of the public. It is important therefore that they are effectively trained and meet legal requirements in what can be a challenging environment.

The Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor Private Security Industry (Refresher) is for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements. Based on the SIA’s own specifications and updated (October 2024) to meet the latest requirements.,

To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 21 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 11 hours and 15 minutes contact time(1.5-days) if self-study is undertaken.

We use Blended Learning which means you complete the knowledge element at home and in your own time through completing a small workbook and ACT certification, then attend our centre to complete practical assessments and a multi-choice examination. There will also be a small amount of distance learning completed by the learner on the First Aid knowledge.

Mandatory Modules include:

  • Principles of terror threat awareness

  • Safeguarding the public from incidents of spiking

  • The application of physical intervention skills

The course will be assessed by the learner completing a multi-choice examination, a short question and answer session with the tutor, and practical assessments throughout the course.

All elements must be achieved by the learner to enable them to renew their Door Supervisor licence with the Security Industry Authority (SIA), which will then be valid for a period of 3 years.

The First Aid element must be achieved before the learner progressing onto the Door Supervisor element of the course.
