New SIA Refreshers

From the 1st October 2024 the SIA and Awarding Bodies have released the new Refresher qualifications for both Door Supervisors and Security Officers. These become mandatory from the 1st April 2025 although the SIA are encouraging those who are eligible to get them booked as quickly as possible.

To try and simplify things, If you completed your original course prior to April 2021 you are on the old specification, and therefore you had to complete a (Top Up) to enable you to renew your licence. For those on the old specification who have not topped up yet, you need to do so before January 2025 because if you don't, then you will have to complete the whole course again on the new specification dated after April 2021. Then in 3-years time you will move onto the New Refresher qualification.

Those of you who completed their course after April 2021 and who are on the new specification, then you have to complete the New Refresher training to enable you to renew your licence.

The new refresher training qualifications have changed and now include updated legislation and new content, as well as including the mandatory Emergency First Aid at Work, also with new content.

The Door Supervisor Refresher will be run over 3-days and cover the mandatory modules as well as practical assessments. Learners must hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work qualification with a minimum of 12-months validation running on it and they must also have completed the ACT before moving onto the Door Supervisor element of the course.

The Security Officer Refresher will be run over 1-day and cover the mandatory modules as well as practical assessments. Learners must hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work qualification with a minimum of 12-months validation running on it and they must also have completed the ACT before moving onto the Security Officer element of the course.
